“Junkhearts” acquired by Soda Pictures

Hello visitors,

Soda Pictures will be bringing Junkhearts to a cinema near you!

Tinge Krishnan’s London-set film about an ex soldier suffering from post traumatic stress disorder stars Eddie Marsan and Romola Garai.

UK distributor Soda Pictures has acquired Junkhearts, the feature debut of Tinge Krishnan, who previously directed the BAFTA-winning short “Shadowscan”.

Tom Sturridge, John Boyega and newcomer Candese Reid also star in the film, which follows an vulnerable ex soldier (Marsan) suffering from post traumatic stress disorder who finds himself manipulated by a young girl and her boyfriend as they attempt to use his home as a drugs den.

Simon Frank wrote the screenplay for the film, which has been produced by Karen Katz for London-based production company Coded Pictures.

Junkhearts will be released in the UK late autumn as part of Soda Pictures’ New British Cinema Quarterly (NBCQ) platform, an initiative aimed at supporting young British filmmaking talent, taking independent films from major festivals and providing an alternative distribution platform to reach audiences around the UK.

It will be the eighth title to be released in the NBCQ Programme, which is supported by Curzon Cinemas, Independent Cinema Office and City Screen. Past titles including BAFTA nominee Skeletons and Jamie Thraves’ Treacle Jr.

Soda Pictures managing director Edward Fletcher said: “With it’s acting quality and visceral story, the film will close our second year NBCQ programme on a high. We look forward to continuing working with our exhibitor partners to develop audiences for British independent films”
