Biography

Name: Thomas Sidney Jerome Sturridge
Birth Date: December 1985
Birth Place: London, England
Nationality: English

Commonly known as Tom Sturridge, the English actor was born in 1985 into a family well-established in the acting and film-making industry. His father, Charles Sturridge is a film director, and his mother Phoebe Nicholls is an actress. Other than his talented and film-biz parents, Tom’s grandparents are also well known in the film industry as he is the grandson of Anthony Nicholls and Faith Kent.

Tom’s acting began when he starred in the film adaptation of Gulliver’s Travels, a film directed by his father and co-starring his mother. In 2004 he re-emerged and had minor roles in films Vanity Fair and Being Julia. And both films allowed him to work with Hollywood’s greats such as Reese Witherspoon and Julia Bennet. A couple of years later, Tom then starred in the Australian and UK film production, Like Minds, which allowed him to be noticed in the acting world.

In 2007, Tom’s big break into Hollywood was when he was cast in Jumper, a $100 million production directed by Doug Liman. Unfortunately, in the midst of filming, Tom was replaced by Hayden Christensen, as the producers of the film believed his unknown popularity may not bring in enough revenue for the film’s release.

While Jumper no longer required him, Tom then signed onto different productions, a British comedy The Boat That Rocked, and an American indie film, Waiting For Forever, which is still pending release. Even though Tom was not in Jumper, he however has managed to established a strong fan base.
