Part Two of Transcript
The first half of this interview was transcribed by myself, but would have remained incomplete if it was not for the wonderful Moca, who transcribed the rest.
TR: [laugh] Okay, uhm…
TS: [laugh] I’m so sorry Tiff– was that from Tiffany? Was that her name?
TR: Yes.
TS: I apologise Tiffany, I can’t, I’m so bad at answering questions.
TR: [laugh] Uhm, Angelica from Mexico wants to know how do you get inspiration to get into character?
TS: To get inspiration for what?
TR: To get into character.
TS: To get into character?
TR: Yep.
TS: Uhmmm… well I mean, it completely… varies, depending on which film– I think, like, firstly when you talk about acting, it’s like talking about anything, you could, you could immediately sound incredibly pretentious. The thing is –
TR: [laugh]
TS: It’s the same when you talk about how you write something, or like you know, how you drive a formula one car, the moment you get into detail –
TR: Uh huh…
TS: You kind of lose, sort of, the mystical aspect of it.
TR: Yeah.
TS: And you start to sound, like not a very interesting person. But, I think like, with this film I just did, the film about a boy who gets to live with his heroes
TR: [laugh]
TS: You know, I, I was just basically a boy doing exactly the same thing, so like getting into character was very minimal–
TR: Yep.
TS: Because it’s so true to my own life. You would just have to rememeber to respond to a different name [laugh]
TR: [laugh]
TS: Uhm so, uh, in the last film I did, I was playing someone very unlike me, and have to kind of– you have to be on your own for awhile, and work out what it is to be, like, somebody else– what they love, and you know, what style they like, and things like that.
TR: [laugh]
TS: I mean, I feel bad getting into detail , I think, I would probably bore myself to death [laugh]
TR: [laugh] Uhm, Gemma from the UK wants to know if you could remake any movie with yourself in the lead role, who would it be and why?
TS: If I can remake any movie?
TR: Yep, with you as the lead.
TS: Uh, there’s a film, um, uh, have you ever heard of the film “Watership Down”?
TR: Um, no I havent.
TS: Like uh [laugh] cartoon about rabbits?
TR: Aw [laugh]
TS: [laugh] uhm, I think, think it might be my favourite film, uhm –
TR: Yeah…
TS: So, I would remake that.
TR: [laugh] With you–
TS: I would– well actually, I wouldn’t remake it. I’d probably, I mean, I feel bad remaking it. But if I do it, I’d be one of the rabbits.
TR: [laugh]
TS: So, so I wouldn’t have to be in it, I’d be someone else’s drawing–
TR: Or maybe you can do the voice for it–
TS: Yep, I’ll be the voice
TR: [laugh] Uhm, do you have any favourite actor or actresses, if so, who is it? From Dayra, Puerto Rico.
TS: Favourite actor, uhm, there’s this TV show called “The Wire”–
TR: Uh huh.
TS: American TV show about, uhm, Baltimore and there’s this actress in it called Felicia Pearson. Who she plays a character called Snoop, and basically she just, [indecipherable] I’ve been blown over by her performance because it’s all kind of–
TR: Yeah
TS: I think she’s extraordinary. [indecipherable] What? Okay.
TR: Ha okay, uhm… from Jessica from England wants to know The Boat That Rocked relies on music quite a lot. What sort of music would you say inspires you in everyday life and work situations?
TS: Uhmm, wow, all my friends are musicians. Uh–
TR: Hmm.
TS: I, I kinda have few close friends called Bobby Long and Marc Foster. Uh, Sam Bradley– and they inspire me because they’re much more talented than I am
TR: Yeah
TS: And [laugh]
TR: [laugh]
TS: Kind of, and I, I want to one day be as great at something. So yeah, them.
