Thanks to Jacinta and Donna (who wrote the article) for linking me to the Examiner’s article with regards to Waiting For Forever at the Nashville Film Festival!

Waiting for Forever, starring Britain’s Tom Sturridge, Rachel Bilson, Blythe Danner, Jaime King, Nikki Blonsky and Richard Jenkins, was one of the major films that kicked off the Nashville Film Festival this week at Regal Cinemas (April 15-22nd).

This movie is absolutely wonderful. Beautiful. It’s a unique love story about the heart, friendship and a view of the world from a childlike perspective versus a cold, harsh reality perspectives. “Waiting for Forever” explores grief and the way people handle grief. It explores first love and how it shapes people’s lives. Some people carry that love with them forever and others forget that love and the person they were as life overwhelms them with clutter.

The NY Daily News recently published an article on Tom with regards to Waiting For Forever on their website.

Tom Sturridge has his buddy Rob Pattinson to thank for his most recent movie role.

At Saturday’s New York premiere of his latest flick, “Waiting for Forever,” Sturridge revealed director James Keach originally wanted the “Twilight” star for the part. “I saw the script on the floor of Rob’s apartment when I was staying on his sofa,” Sturridge said.

But the equally hunky Brit knew he could play the part of a hopeless romantic just as well as Pattinson – and even top him.

“I thought to myself, ‘I could do this better than he could!’, so I called up my agent the next morning. They were kind enough to let me audition and apparently they saw something in me.”

Tom has been listed in Glamour Magazine’s list of Faces to Watch In 2010, and this is what they had to say about him:

Tom Sturridge – Age: 24

After Jamie Bell [Hayden Christensen] stole the lead role off Tom for Jumper back in 2006, he finally managed to cause a Hollywood buzz last year, shaking things up with The Boat That Rocked. Being bestfriends with Robert Pattinson has helped him to secure a slot on girl’s bedroom walls. This year he stars in Waiting For Forever. Let’s hope he gets his kit off.

I am not sure why they had said Jamie Bell stole the role, but I took the liberty and replaced Mr Bell with Hayden Christensen, cos it was he who replaced Tom.

I believe this is a new photo along with this new interview from when Tom did Teen Vogue:

It almost wasn’t a job,” Tom Sturridge says about his upcoming 1966-set film, Pirate Radio. “We’d wake up every morning at six–Bob Dylan and Jimi Hendrix blasting over the speakers on the boat–sail into the middle of the ocean, and watch the sun come up.” Tom plays Carl, an unruly teenager who, after being expelled from prep school, is sent to live with his godfather (Bill Nighy) on a rusty trawler in the North Sea. It’s hardly punishment, though: The ship, which broadcasts an illegal but hugely popular rock ‘n’ roll station, is helmed by a motley crew of rambunctious DJs (Philip Seymour Hoffman, whom Tom calls “a god,” stars as the leader of the pack).

The 23-year-old Brit, who has appeared in Vanity Fair and Being Julia, shares some similarities with his character, Carl: Tom dropped out of high school and never graduated. “I hated it so much,” he says. “It just wasn’t for me.” Such antipathy towards academia also helped him get into character recently; he has spent the past couple months garnering brilliant reviews as the lead in the U.K. production of Punk Rock, a play about rebellious private-schoolers that’s been compared to Broadway hits The History Boys and Spring Awakening.

Before taking the stage for Punk Rock, Tom lived in a tent with his aunt and cousins in Botswana, couch-surfed around Manhattan and Los Angeles, and filmed the indie romantic comedy Waiting for Forever–which is expected to debut at Sundance this January. In it, he stars as Will, a homeless street performer in pursuit of the girl (Rachel Bilson) he’s loved since he was six. “I had to learn how to juggle to play that part,” he says, laughing. “I thought I was good, but it turns out I was really terrible.”

It seems he may be having his Hollywood moment, but Tom–with his almost studied nonchalance and carefree disposition–is certainly taking it all in stride. “Some people are defined by what they do,” he says while tugging at his mop of thick, dark hair. “But for me, it’s just a gig, a few months here and there. I spend the majority of my life not acting.”
